The woods and its creatures have always provided her protection and safety. She can no longer be loyal to a clan who is turning away from what she holds dear so Willa escapes the clan.Ĭlanless and unsure of what do next, Willa turns to the comfort of the woods. This begins a chain of events that force Willa to open her eyes to the value and respect she has for nature, peace, and the old ways instilled in her by her grandmother. When Willa has a run-in with a day-folk man named Nathaniel, she is gravely injured. They are a dwindling people and it takes more and more to keep them going. She steals things from the day-folk for her Padaran (the god-like leader of her clan) to use in trade to keep their clan alive. Willa is a night-spirit of the Smoky Mountains. ![]()
